A nutrition specialist planned a low-calorie, low-fat diet for a patient. The patient’s daily calorie intake from 540 grams of food will be 2410 calories with 40% of the calories from protein. There are 4 calories per gram of protein, 4 calories per gram of carbohydrate, and 9 calories per gram of fat. (Hint: Use Cramer’s rule to solve.) (This is for Algebra)
How many daily grams of protein (p), carbohydrates (c), and fat (f) will this diet include?
if you demand that 40% of calories come from protein...
then 2410*0.4 = 964 calories from protein... this requires... 241 g of protein...
1446 calories come from fat and carbs ... and it should amount to... 299 grams.
F + C = 299
9F + 4C = 1446
5F = 250
F = 50
Thus C = 249
Cramer's Rule is not necessary.
